Prints 1975-1977
Created with visionary New York print dealer Brooke Alexander, a central figure in elevating post-war graphic arts, Arlene Slavin’s 1975 and 1977 print series bridge her monumental grid paintings with the intimate possibilities of works on paper.
Because Slavin individually hand-colored each sheet (and in some cases changed the orientation), the entire run eschews serial uniformity, transforming every editioned impression into an autonomous, uniquely composed monotype.
Note that, given the unique nature of the individual prints, example images are displayed here.
