Arlene Slavin, Intersections
May 2014 - April 2015
Sculptures / Windows / Paintings / Prints
This solo exhibition introduced two new elements in Arlene Slavin’s practice: freestanding panel sculptures and her modern riff on stained glass windows. Bringing her 1970s investigation of the grid into vibrant three-dimensional space, these new works used thin layers of crisscrossed vinyls or polymers.
Expanding beyond those central sculptures and windows, the presentation also included her recent Intersections series of paintings and prints, illustrating Slavin’s lifelong engagement with the interplay of structure and light.
