Initiated in 2009, Arlene Slavin’s Intersections series marks a deliberate return to the grid after decades of diverse artistic exploration. Revisiting the structural mechanics of her seminal 1970s output, these late canvases combine hand-penciled matrix lines with loose, atmospheric washes to achieve a heightened sense of continuous linear movement, aerial depth, and luminous spatial openness.
